I haven't read Stephen King's novel and I wasn't really sure if I was going to like this movie or not. My expectations were high, though. And it turned out to be one of my favorite movies of all time! The first thing that shocks you and leaves you speechless is the maturity of the main actors. Their acting seems to be so real, so down-to-earth and yet fascinating. I am not much of an emotional person and I do not often cry over movies, because there is always an inner voice telling me: This is not real, this is art, it is supposed to be entertainment. But this. It just hit me as hard as it could, I found myself with tears filling my eyes even the day after watching it. I am only 17, and I know that life is ahead of me, but for some reason it just made me feel nostalgic and old. It made me somehow regret watching it, but at the same time I want to watch it over and over again. I am not a movie expert, but for me - this was not a movie. This was my childhood, my memories, my desperate wish to turn back time. And maybe some more competent people criticize particular parts of this movie (for example, the main actors smiled in some scenes even though they were supposed to be serious) but for me these "flaws" made this movie perfect and real. They reminded me of me and my squad when we were that age, our pointless conversations, fights, joking, crying. For me, this movie is by far the best picture of that innocent stage in our lives. And a raw reminder that you'll never be that young and free again. But there are memories that help us. Memories - and things like this movie.
